About

Finding home shouldn’t take a spreadsheet in your head.

Yuva is one place to search, filter and compare every towns and cities across the United States, using the same facts for each, so the place that fits you can actually show up.

The matrix in your head

Almost everyone who thinks about moving does the same thing. They build a matrix in their head: somewhere sunny, but not humid. Winters that aren’t brutal. Cheaper than here. Good schools, maybe. Air that doesn’t make you cough. Then they try to fill it in from ten browser tabs, a friend’s opinion and a half-remembered article.

It feels like research, but the matrix is mostly guesses. Every number comes from a different source, measured a different way, and none of it sits next to anything else. You end up comparing the handful of places you’ve already heard of, using whatever facts happened to be easy to find. The town you pick can turn out to be a terrible fit for reasons you’d have seen immediately if the information had been laid out in a way you could simply read.

So we put it all in one app

Yuva keeps climate month by month, air quality, home prices and rent, taxes, schools, natural hazards and more for every places, across 76 measures, in one consistent, comparable form. You don’t have to build the matrix. It’s already built, and you can search it.

Filter on what matters
Every place is measured the same way, so you can set “winters above freezing, air that is usually clean, homes under $400k” and watch the map answer.
Or take the quiz
Tell us how you like your summers, what you can afford and what you want to avoid. Every place gets scored against you, with the reasons spelled out.
Compare like with like
Put places side by side, or set where you live now and see any town against home, month by month and number by number.
Stumble on places you’d never have found
The map is the whole country, not a shortlist of names you already know. Zoom somewhere you have never thought about and see how it stacks up.

The perfect place might be one you’ve never heard of

There are thousands of towns and small cities in this country that most people couldn’t name, and some of them are exactly what you’re looking for. Mild winters, a college-town feel, a coastline that isn’t crowded, homes you can afford. You can’t go looking for a place you don’t know exists. You can, though, describe what you want, and let the right information point you to it.

That’s the soul of Yuva: good information, laid out simply, plus a quiz and a search that do the matching, so a great fit can find you.

Why “Yuva”

Yuva is the Turkish word for home, and for a nest. A nest isn’t chosen from a list of the most famous trees. It’s built where the light, the shelter and the surroundings are right for whoever will live in it. That’s the idea: a place that suits the person, not one that merely looks good from far away.

Straight about the numbers

Yuva is a planning aid, not a verdict. The figures come from public sources, including NOAA climate normals, NASA POWER, the EPA, the Census Bureau and FEMA, and we say where each one comes from and what it can’t tell you. Use it to narrow the map, then go and visit.
